The Internet is the decoration of this world. It reflects what is going on. That is why those who spread hatred should be stopped. Not to the media.

India cleverly deleted Article 370, followed by rumors that the country's manufacturing sector has the potential to achieve not only double but triple digit growth in Kashmir. Nowhere does everyone seem to fall short in expressing what they think about the development of Kashmir. Not only that, but in the battle of hatred, the platform of social media is now taking shape as a new battlefield. This trend seems to be the same everywhere globally.
After the shooting in El Paso, USA, the Trump administration finally came to realize how much hatred has spread through the online media. Within a week of the incident, the White House convened an emergency meeting. Could the meeting follow a process on social media, such as Google, Facebook, and Twitter, to identify who will be firing from now on, and to predict a major attack? It just goes to show that the fear in the minds of such governments is as much about their faith in technology as it is about their fears.
It is so easy to harshly criticize or blame platforms like social media and demand more regulation of the content thrown on these media. But the real need today is to pay serious attention to the industry that is spreading hatred on social media and to understand the scope of its consequences.
The attack in El Paso was followed by actual action on At Chan. The move was prompted by the decision by Cloudfare, a Silicon Valley company that protects At Chan from cyber-attacks, to end its relationship with them.
But the politicians' rhetoric against the media is deviating from the real issue. In fact, there is not much connection between a particular media platform or a messaging service provider. The simple reason for this is that the problem is not with the platform, but with the events beyond it. The real reason lies in the social situation around us, where hate speech is used to divide society, and then terrorist attacks are hatched.
Is the new world an adventurous age of fake news ?
Whether it is a false news story or an increasingly rebellious ideology spread through the online media, we can certainly understand this from the experiences we experience in our daily lives.

On July 21, 2019, the whole world was celebrating the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's first step on the moon. At the same time, in Chester, England, a group of self-proclaimed Chester Flat Earths were busy distributing leaflets with the intention of a man stepping on the moon.
If you search the internet, you will see how the community of those who call themselves 'Flat Earths' is flourishing. They have their own websites and blogs. Their communities are growing day by day on media like Facebook.
According to a report published last year by Live Science, only 66 people between the ages of 18 and 24 believe in the statement that the earth is round. Of course, the rest of the world may not be convinced that the earth is flat, but more than 40 out of a hundred think that those who make such a claim would have evidence. This means that those who have a flat Earths ideology, whatever surface information they have that fertilizes their thinking, is certainly not worth the fee.
Importantly, the Flat Earths ideology or tribe is not the offspring of social media. On the contrary, this ideology has existed for half a century. When Galileo was declared a rebel by others, it was the Catholic Church that accused him. The only difference is that with today's advanced technology, social groups have been demarcated or demarcated. So a group on any frontier can create its own ‘Flat Earths’ pro-global community. If they succeed in attracting the attention of anyone, then they can choose their potential member or supporter.

In this context, it seems that even in the ideology of terrorism, there is a tendency to attract someone to us, to attract our attention. In fact, it is just a play. The platform for that is important. In this case, any public space is beneficial. Here the victim begins to play two roles. He is also a character in this drama and a listener immersed in brutal experiences. There are those who die and those who live to tell horror stories.
After 9/11, the 9/11 attacks, government-sponsored operations began to use a wide range of advanced technologies. At the same time, the terrorists also adopted the technique of creating panic by pushing. In a sense, they both learned a great deal from each other. For a rock music event on a small screen, where the largest audience is to be attracted, it has to be disciplined and shaped, as well as both.
The bomber struck at noon witnessed by the crowd of mourners. He used a large number of hashtags to reach them, and tried to convey the message of Brenton Torrent.
Patrick Crucius and Torrent, both from El Paso, also contacted the messaging service 'At Chan' to get people to accept their policies or act accordingly. Torrent was showing his program live from his Facebook account as well as on the messaging service where he posted his policies.
Within half an hour, however, he started showing off his gruesome face through Facebook Live. The important thing to note here is that everyone who is recommending the use of technology to catch such social media before a crime is committed, it continues for about 17 minutes before shutting down Facebook Live.
And it's not that the closure of Facebook Live has stopped its publicity. On the contrary, the video of Facebook Live continued to spread through YouTube, Twitter and Reddit. In the first 24 hours after the attack, Facebook deleted 1.5 million videos of the attack. However, copies of the video, which were posted on other exchange platforms, kept coming. Only TRP-hungry mainstream news channels watched the video in small pieces and aired it around the world through us.
Why can't we separate hate speeches and statements and terrorism from each other? There is a great deal of resentment about migration as well as the sub-replacement fertility. "This situation or this type is an attack on European citizens," the statement said. Torrent wanted the attackers to continue attacking the immigrants, just as he did.
Nineteen minutes before the attack, Patrick Crucius posted a 2,300-word manifesto, as well as a complaint against immigrants. Only if we can get rid of some of these people can our path to eternal life be paved to some extent. It is clear here that in his wandering mind begins a conflict in which the concept of eternal life was linked to the Malthus theory that the number of immigrants in the country would continue to increase.
The fact is that this manifesto bears a resemblance to the rebels from all over the world who have nothing to do with reality, who do nothing, show no creativity, just gossip. It seems that everything from the words in the manifesto to the excerpts, which are shown on the mainstream media, is picked up as it is. And then it's passed on to those around you, to groups that share your thoughts.
Considering the events and chronology of the Christchurch attack, it is clear that not only the source behind the manifesto, but also the motivation behind the fanaticism has been picked up somewhere. The far-right politician and member of the Senate said, "New Zealand has allowed Muslim fundamentalists to immigrate to the country as part of its immigration policy, which is why there is bloodshed on New Zealand's streets today."
Since 2017, there has been an increase in political leaders in the United States making outrageous and inflammatory statements against Hispanic or Latin American citizens. And hate speech should also be included in hate speeches and statements.

Considering the situation in India in this context, it is worth adding to the list a statement made by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Khattar on Twitter. Khattar's statement that the decision to repeal Article 370 and the action taken in support of all related developments was a just punishment for the Kashmiris or a change taken on the strength of the majority is serious. He had said, "Now the way is clear for Kashmir and now we can bring Kashmiri girls to us." No matter what context his statement was made, the huge response from people who live online after this statement and with a sense of triumphant frenzy on social media was something to seriously consider. These reactions were in stark contrast to the explanations given by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India for the purpose of deleting Article 370.
In short, all of this, like Trump's statement condemning the El Paso attackers, is not going to resolve the hatred he has spread through his messages on Twitter. Because the entire responsibility for disproving the perception that the deletion of Article 370 is revenge by the majority lies with the Central Government alone. Likewise, just praying in the White House with technology giants won’t make a difference. Because online platforms are not the only problem.
If the online platform is to be a real battle against hate speech and rhetoric, then all these platforms will have to start cracking down on a number of important political figures around the world. They will have to monitor the heads of many states and parliamentary systems as "terrorism watch lists", remove the posts of such people, and stop their interaction with the masses. To put it bluntly, it is not possible for any online platform to do such a thing.
Hate speeches and statements confuse the social atmosphere, creating a climate in which terrorism can flourish. For example, the Flat Earths ideology community has spread its fanatical ideology not only online but also in its parliamentary system as well as from door to door. Rather than turning a blind eye to all this, the real responsibility for dealing with it lies with the government we have elected.
Neo-nationalism
In fact, we have no idea how much technology in our hands is capable of propagating and disseminating something, in a sense, it is beyond our comprehension. It is true that we publish any unconfirmed information online at once, but it is spread all over the world in numerous versions.
Photo (https://unsplash.com/photos/zglvrlSFiSQ) |
Importantly, this technology also has the added power of secrecy. As a clown says, "Give a man a mask in the dark night, then he puts on a mask so that he can reveal his true personality." Because of the secrecy of the weapon, a gang of troll rats, under the guise of secrecy, pretends to be their puppet (a character who makes false promises). Like a primitive tribe, they pretend to be united, choose the only things that expose their falsehood, and wash their hands of it. It is as if they are fighting to prove who is the funniest, the worst, or the most stupid of them, pretending to be a great warrior. In fact, we feel that we are in a world where communalism is being fertilized instead of being uprooted.
The concept that is currently emerging around the world as nationalism is not nationalism at all. On the contrary, under the guise of nationalism, communalism is infiltrating. These two ideas are as different from each other as they are from a chalk and a cheese. In fact, the concept of nationalism is formed by the rules, values and ideas laid down by the Constitution. That is to say, the idea of maintaining social cohesion through institutions, systems and laws is wrapped around the concept of nation.
In communalism, however, there is nothing to borrow. It is only connected to the concept of loyalty. The present form of communalism is rooted in the idea that a nation is a nation of a particular group, tribe or individual who has emerged as a nation and even greater than others. Here we are expected to show our allegiance to a particular community rather than to any system or organizational structure as a nation. The occasion for such loyalty is the perception that the institutional, organizational, value and constitutional structure that has shaped this nation to this day will work even if the entire structure has to be dismantled.
The real question is how to control such extremist rebellious ideologies. But based on what such a person has discovered, seen, and posted in online media, small measures like redirecting them to a website without their knowledge will be of little use. Originally, such measures did not work for people with a flat Arthurs ideology. So we have to understand how it can be useful for extremists like jihadists.
That is why, if one wants to fight both extremist rebellious ideology and hate speech and statements at the same time, first of all, it is important to understand the potential impact of who expresses how.
The thing that binds them all together
Here, instead of arguing over the use of technology, people with such ideologies have cleverly used various terms and means to differentiate other individuals and groups into the idea that we are excluded. (Especially about hate speech and rhetoric), and then we need to understand what and how they have progressed in terms of inciting violence (terrorism) in one's mind. It is important to note that such tools were available even before social media like Facebook and Twitter came into existence. So since mankind has existed, it must be understood that the tools used to spread hatred have also existed.
Photo (https://unsplash.com/photos/Bv_PMxkprVQ) |
Such tools include stamping a particular meaning or ideology on someone, pretending that all avenues are closed, and using tools to keep oneself within the boundaries of the ideas presented by one's community. This is because they can then easily determine whether the person or group on the other side is the enemy, as their religion, community or nation says.
The technology used to convey your thoughts to others is not so difficult to understand. In fact, it is always as easy as any other person to focus on planned or organized violence. Find someone in your community who may seem cruel. Keep saying that the cause of all your problems is a particular person or group. Treat the person you want to treat inhumanely, that is, all the rules, values, ethics are automatically removed from the treatment of that person. And then burn that person as if tied to a cross. Such violence and cruelty are automatically recognized. Now, if a lonely person falls victim to such an incident of violence, call it "incidental damage" to a larger cause.
In this regard, Cresswell and Haykel say that fighting jihad or white supremacy is not so easy. It is difficult to understand their appeal strength and endurance. It is also difficult to predict what kind of major changes will take place in the long-term socio-cultural perimeter, the surrounding social conditions. Stories that convey a sense of truth or logic are created in order to attract and subdue any statement or thought. From that, it is more different to think or say. In fact, it is a cultural and social condition that nurtures violent movements as well as the direction of such violent movements.
According to Andrew Glazard, the cultural resources available to radical organizations bind them together. In fact, this kind of cultural context is more important for the survival of this movement than economic cooperation or arms. Jihadists' ideas take root because they give their members answers and explanations that can make sense of this world, their lives, and their deprivation. Jihadis reinforce the deep-seated fears of their members through their thoughts and the feeling that we as a group are inadequate.
The important thing is that, like all other ideologies, the ideology of supporting jihadi and white supremacy should not be distrusted. Followers of such ideologies find themselves so preoccupied with the limits of certain rules about whether we should do it or not. In fact, it is very difficult for a person beyond that ideology to understand the whole situation. Now, in such a situation, the members of the Flat Arthurs community, who at other times seem to be very rational and ethical, their ability to comprehend and think is in fact confined to biblical logic or following their instructions.
So the effectiveness of this policy or measure will be very low if you take measures such as sending a message on your behalf, assuming that the transmission of text or video related to terrorism can be restricted, and if the person or system that checks the facts stamps on the message as false.
We have to keep in mind that the older the social organization, the older the rumor. In ancient times, when people used to sit together by the fire to discuss what we hunted today, the concept of rumor was first introduced. From that time on, some people, places, and objects began to be considered taboo. It is this kind of prohibition and restriction that creates unity in communities.
Robert Knapp's book, Psychology of Rumors, was published in 1944. In this book, he states an important feature of rumors. He says that the emotional needs of a society that is deeply rooted in society and sometimes cannot be expressed are expressed through rumors, and that is why, in spite of those rumors, sometimes they spread very fast. They can be completely wrong, untrue. Yet they are expressed in such a small way, metaphorically or symbolically, that some communities find it a sensitive expression of the way they look at the world.

This means that strategies or measures to combat such situations need to pay more attention not only to the facts, but also to the developments in our vast world, beyond which false and untrue explanations or proofs are given. In fact, it is such false and untrue explanations that make the fanatics feel that they are too powerful. And that is why his followers believe in exaggerated and conspiratorial things or theories. Many of these theories are even more frightening or bizarre… the theories put forward by Flat Earths are the most frightening or bizarre.
That is why it is important to prevent polarization at the social level. An effective alternative cultural system will have to be set up to accommodate all the systems that the extremist rebels seek to differentiate from each other in the form of discrimination, segregation, stamps, classification.
New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Orden has won the war on terror on the same principle. However, the way in which the United States reacted after the 9/11 attacks, in fact, exacerbated the problem of global terrorism.
The response from New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Arden was, in fact, an expression of resentment. He chose a simple message of grief, sympathy and love. He emphasized the need for any civic system to transcend country, creed and religion. He literally appealed to the whole world.
Against this backdrop, the way Jacinda Orden handled the situation after the Christchurch shootings, and the decision taken by her central government on Kashmir, must be borne in mind by the majority, who have fueled and exacerbated the triumph that has begun. The sanctity and sincerity of their decision, as well as their own future success, will depend on whether or not they have the ability to do so.
Conclusion
Let us finally turn to the answer to an important question… is it that new media is dividing society? Of course, the short answer is no. Now, if this world were a really happy place, then the same happiness would be seen on the internet. In fact, the Internet is the decoration of this world, the Internet reflects you, but it does not create. In fact, the polarization in today's society is reflected in the outbursts on social media. If this had happened in some earlier period and in some other place, then the religious war might have erupted.
Even so, fifty years ago, if they had thought Gutenberg was a hindrance, they would have been in their coffee house or pub, setting up their own little secret organizations. It should be noted, however, that he always and unrestrictedly influenced every event, church, and king.
The spread of hatred and terrorism is one and the same thing. In both cases there is a complete digestive tract of falsehood, hatred, and cruelty. The important thing is that all these qualities are not in the medium we use, but we have to understand that these qualities are actually in us.
