Trump was trying to mediate the Kashmir issue. However, it seems that Modi has personally visited and sided with Trump for the time being.

The annual meeting of the G-7 International Group was held in the village of Biarrez in France. The G-7 group was originally the G-8. It consisted of eight countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Russia. Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 drew criticism from Russia and Russia withdrew from the G-8.
In fact, Russia was an inconsistent country in the G-8. The rest of the countries are western, capitalist, democratic. Russia itself does not know exactly what is the case socio-economically, let alone others. After Russia's exit, the current G-7 was a unified group. But now the G-7 group is no longer united because of the international role played by the United States, that is, by Trump. The United States and the other six G7 nations have sharp differences over the three issues of international trade, sanctions on Iran and the climate change crisis.
In G7, these powerful nations come together to discuss their interests. The same congregation, together with others, meets once a year in Davos, Switzerland, and discusses the interests of the world (actually their own interests). These discussions are informal. In other words, it is a herd. But since the head of state is in the discussion, it gives direction to the policy of those countries.
In such meetings, many heads of state meet openly while eating, having breakfast, and having a drink. Things that cannot be said openly are expressed in such discussions. The same thing happens during the meetings of the United Nations in New York. There are many halls in that building and in that hall the heads of state and diplomats are chatting privately. In making such a decision, one has to guess how much to go forward, how much to stay behind, how much to expect, etc. Once a resolution is passed after two or three days of deliberation, there is a formality in it, the direction of the thoughts of the assembled people is known from that resolution.
World trade was a topic at the G-7 summit in France. The US has imposed tariffs on goods from China. The UK is leaving the European Union. The United States has imposed economic sanctions on Iran. The incident has slowed global trade, affected the economies of many countries, and sent the world into a recession. The conference discussed how to find a way out of this.
Macron of France and Merkel of Germany sought to persuade US President Trump to ease sanctions on Iran and lift tariffs on China. But Trump did not pay much attention to it. According to the US First policy, Trump has created animosity with Europe, China and other countries. The conference proved once again that Trump is not ready to listen. France has called on Iran's foreign minister to improve Iran-US relations. But Trump has not changed.
The global environment was also an important topic at the conference. Global temperatures are rising, floods are coming, droughts are happening all over the world. Facing this crisis is not in the hands of two countries alone. The whole world must unite to solve that problem. That is why the G-7 countries and the rest of the world came together and signed the Kyoto Agreement first and then the Paris Agreement. The agreement focused on limiting the amount of harmful gases in the atmosphere. But unfortunately Trump is not involved in this effort. Trump doesn't like the fact that industry, etc., is destroying the environment or is basically destroying the environment. That's why Trump pulled out of the Paris Agreement. Macron tried to persuade them at the French conference. But it didn't work either.
Trump's unbridled reputation is now widespread. The G-7 group tried to bring them to a turn. But it has failed, so to speak. Conferences like G-7, Davos are a place for informal visits of different countries. Heads of state and diplomats who are not members of the council are also invited to the conference. Narendra Modi was also invited. India is not a member of G-7. The council had arranged for Modi to be present and meet the heads of state present informally. Normally, it is up to Modi and the Indian diplomat to decide who to meet and what to do. There is no official participation of the organizers.
What was Narendra Modi has to offer in Chaos? Does India have an important role to play in economic sanctions, tariffs, global markets? It is not yet known. But it seems that the Kashmir issue has been discussed with Trump. Because, Trump had expressed his views on the Kashmir question. The question is complicated, it's old, Trump said he was willing to mediate to get rid of it. Trump was trying to mediate at the urging of Pakistani President Imran Khan. But Trump was ready, despite the fact that it has been made clear many times before that India does not want mediation. Looking at Trump's personality, it was understandable for Trump to say yes to Imran Khan. So the question before India was how to convince Trump.
Trump is said to be governed by personal preferences. The man liked that. North Korea's Kim Yang Un liked Trump. Trump met him. Something similar is being said about Putin. If Trump agrees with one thing, then it doesn't matter if the American people or the whole world says anything about his policy.
In view of all this, perhaps Narendra Modi paid a personal visit to the G7 in Biarrez rather than an official visit to Trump's White House. During the meeting, Modi briefed Trump on India's role. Trump is not in the habit of reading official correspondence or documents or advice from advisers. However, his subsequent remarks suggest that Trump may have understood India's policy through Modi's visit.
Trump said the Kashmir issue should not fall into anyone's lap. India and Pakistan should resolve this issue through dialogue. It is hoped that he will no longer abide by the mediation promises made to Imran Khan over his statement. Of course, again Imran Khan did not meet Trump privately, i.e. got. Because the truth is that Trump has nothing to do with it. However, it seems that Modi has personally met and sided with Trump for the time being.
